In 1984, many lives were changed (for the better) due to Hasbro releasing what is now the beloved Transformers: Generation 1 toy line, as well as the amazing television cartoon series. Also in 1984, Marvel Comics released an 80-issue Transformers run that was entirely different from the TV show, spanning from 1984-1991. Transformers: G1 Awakening is a mobile Transformers game which was released in 2008 and was ported to iOS devices in 2010. G1 Awakening, which has since been pulled from the Apple Store, is a strategy and turned-based game in which the player controls Transformers characters and moves through a grid-like world while battling other transformers. 8 transformers g1: awakening One of the first Transformers games to enter the mobile space, it was something of a surprise when G1 Awakening managed to be an excellent game. First announced at BotCon 2008, Transformers G1: Awakening was developed and published by Glu Mobile for non-smartphones, but would make the transition to Apple and Android.

It's fair to say we were a bit lukewarm about the Transformers game that Glu Mobile released last year. It wasn't bad, as such, but it didn't live up to our expectations.

It's a flyer for a new Transformers game from Glu, called Transformers G1 Awakening. It promises turn-based strategic battles on Earth and Cybertron, with up to 23 playable characters.
Oh, and full-screen battle scenes, and two game modes: Story and Skirmish. According to the flyer, it's due out this autumn.
We're quite excited because it's a surprise to us. Presumably Glu wanted to build some buzz among hardcore Transformers fans before officially announcing the game, which sounds like a sensible strategy.
Rest assured, we'll have more details when more of the game, er, meets our robot-loving eyes.
